I have a cabin in northwestern Wisconsin, named THE FINNISH READING ROOM, to recognize my paternal grandfather's coming from
FINLAND and helping build a small town called Lake Norden, South Dakota, population c.400. I have been learning about
the indigenous people of Northern Scandinavia, Finland and Russia, the Saami, who herd reindeer across those countries. They
have some traditions and poetry that I am planning to include on my website pages. Oh, at the cabin I can finish reading what
I start in town but never have time for there!
This is not me, but the picture captures the experience in Canyon De Chelly very well. We learned to value water and stopped
frequently to re-hydrate!
